History

In 1990, to better serve the needs of the deaf community, Metropolitan Washington Association of the Deaf (MWAD) set up a service subsidiary called Metropolitan Washington Deaf Community Center (MWDCC) . In 1996 MWAD and MWDCC merged. With this move MWDCC inherits, preserves, and adds to the rich history of its predecessors:

District of Columbia Silents Athletic Club (1935-1945)
Washington Silents Club (1925-1928)
